The Staff at Alaska Human Services

Robert Lane, Ph.D. (Owner/Director)
Dr. Lane's primary responsibility is to oversee and provide guidance to the clinical staff. He is a licensed psychologist and holds certification from the APA college of Professional Psychology in the area of alcohol and other psycho-active substance use disorders. He has completed the Professional Mindfulness training course with John Kabat-Zinn. He has blended mindfulness into the substance abuse treatment program as an adjunct to cognitive therapy, which forms the basis of substance abuse treatment here at Alaska Human Services.

 

Cheryl Charic, MS, CDC II (Executive Director) Cheryl graduated from Alaska Pacific University with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. Cheryl brings a wide variety of experience to our clinic. She has worked extensively with women and children, and has years of experience counseling people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. She is a compassionate person who really cares about the clients that come to our clinic.

Jeff Arndt, LPC, CDC I Jeff graduated from Alaska Pacific University with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. Jeff brings to our agency a rich history of experience filled with emergency and crisis intervention, cultural diversity, and the ability to speak Spanish. His experience with extensive travel in Latin America is beneficial to his ability to work with others. Additionally, Jeff formerly lived in Kotzebue, where he worked with Alaskan Natives in many capacities and grew to appreciate their rich culture and traditional lifestyle.

Rebekah Haussner,  MS   Rebbeca has a background working with youth in crisis with substance abuse issues. At our clinic she focuses on mindfullness and stress management. She is very good at helping people learn how to relax, let their stress dissipate, and shift their focus to positive thoughts, feelings and behaviors so they can pursue their goals with fewer setbacks.

Lindsey Spohnholz
Lindsey is our office manager, and is responsible for all aspects of managing new intakes, as well as our existing clients. Lindsey is the first point of contact for anyone wishing to obtain information about the many services we have to offer. Her warm smile and understanding demeanor goes a long way to make you feel comfortable and welcome when you walk in our door.

In addition to our regular staff, Alaska Human Services is a proud host of talented interns dedicated to furthering their skills in the counseling field. They enhance our services by bringing fresh perspectives and energy to our practice as we continually strive to provide the best treatments possible for our clients.
